Nightshade: Discord? Are you in here?

Nightshade: Discord? Come on, do your appearing thing, this is really important!

Nightshade: Damnit! I'm still 1/3 size, and my only loyal minion is missing!

Elsewhere:

Penny: *SOB*
Discord: Oh God, what's the problem now?

Discord: Is this because you're not some special savior in the future?

Penny: No! It's because there IS no savior! I'm not good enough!

Discord: ...ugh. Look, it's not that bad.

Penny: What do you mean?
Discord: Just stop crying and sit down, all right?

Discord: As far as evil overlords go, Nightshade is pretty good.
Penny: But... she's evil.

Discord: Yeah, but she's evil in a general kind of way. She's not trying to make the world better by killing everyone with brown eyes, for example.

Penny: Um... what?
Discord: It's not like she doesn't kill anyone. Running the world is a lot of work, you think everyone just gets along because they have the same supreme dictator? Everyone eventually realized that so long as Nightshade gets her parades, choirs of schoolchildren singing about how awesome she is and gets carried around on a palanquin by chippendale dancers, she pretty much lets people get on with their lives so long as they don't rock the boat.

Penny: So...no one complains?
Discord: Of course not. Everyone always complains. But there's no more war, and without all the power struggles the general quality of life across the planet improves.

Penny: So Nightshade is like... THE GOOD GUY?

Commentary:

Bet you didn't see that coming :)

I was thinking for a long time about what kind of supervillain Nightshade would be. The stereotypical bond villains don't generally have a plan for *AFTER* they take over the world. All the evilness and the ambition is spent on trying. And what happens after you take over the world? Nothing but problems.
