Ash: ...shrunk Beressa, but then Belladonna ran off with her before she could kill her. So it might be the real Beressa, if they somehow found a way to get her back to her original size. I don't really know. I made some robot minis to infiltrate the group, but Obsidian has been running that program.


Discord: But that still doesn't explain Nightshade's behavior. They may have replaced her with a double, or be using some kind of mind control...
Ash: Yeah, Nightshade would probably be a pretty easy subject for mind control.


Discord: This is getting difficult. I could take care of the big things, but it's the little changes which are snowballing out of control. How can I keep things on track if I don't know what's supposed to happen exactly? I just remember what I was told from stories when I was a kid.


Ash: Why did you come back in time? You know that you can never go back to your future, even if you prevent Saturn from changing history. Your future would never have been changed, it would just have changed A future.


Discord: I'm not going to let her win in any future without a fight.
Ash: I guess that's one way of looking at it.


Valentine: ASH!
Ash: Valentine? What's wrong?


Valentine: There's this girl in my room who's like a tiny replica of me! She says she needs our help, and that Belladonna has taken Nightshade's place!


Ash: Well, now we know what happened to Nightshade...


Valentine: She says that Belladonna is planning to put satellites into orbit that will shrink the entire population of the world to 1/3 its original size!
Ash: When you say 'shrink'...
Valentine: We'll all be minis! Who's your friend?


Ash: Oh, this is Discord. She's Nightshade's secret henchman.
Valentine: Nice to meet you.
Discord: Yeah...


Valentine: But you should hear it from her. V! They're in here!


V: Hi.


Discord: Why is it wearing a plush panda outfit?


V: No reason. It's not like I need to be in disguise because the last time I was here someone tried to kill me.
Ash: Of course not. So what is this plan of Belladonna's more specifically?


V: It all started to go wrong when we saved Beressa. Before that it was just Belladonna and me, and we got by ok... Belladonna is kinda crazy, but she wasn't doing anything bad.


V: But after Beressa came, she and Belladonna started to plan on how to get back at Nightshade and everyone else! They're going to make the minis big and the big will become minis! The world will become chaos!


Discord: Fuck. That definitely didn't happen in my future.
Ash: So what are you going to do about it?



Commentary:
Each page that Lily is reading is an excerpt from a different day. It was fairly easy for her to find Ravish's diary because he's always hidden it in the same place since he was 8.

There are two main schools of thought about time travel into the past. One is that there is one past and one future, and if you go back you have to be very careful not to create a paradox (like, say, killing your own grandfather) or all of creation will undo itself--this is the theory used in Back to the Future. My personal opinion of this one is that it's unlikely. The universe and all of reality is a bit to big and complex to be undone by a paradox of human logic. Therefore, All My Pullips will be operating under the other main model: There is an infinite amount of futures. If you go back and time and kill your grandfather, this does not cause the universe to undo itself because in the future YOU came from, you did not kill your grandfather. You can't change your own present, but you can change a future of a past because the instant you went back you created an alternate future. Likewise, the only future you can travel to is the one that at that instant is the most likely future for the present. So if Discord or Saturn were to 'go back' they wouldn't really go back. They would just go to the future most likely for the new present that they have created.

So, for all your theories, do not think of Saturn's past (the one where Nightshade becomes competent and goes on to rule the world) as the same as the current storyline. All of the events Saturn and Discord are responsible for--the rise of the Minis, for example, is an indirect result of Saturn's arrival; she is the reason Ash created V to experiment on, and she is the one who captured and shrank Beressa--DID NOT HAPPEN in Saturn and Discord's future.

I hope I didn't make that too complicated.

Ash created V to experiment on to see if killing her would hurt Belladonna (who grabbed V and ran off with her) so she could be more sure about whether or not killing Nightshade would hurt Valentine. V hasn't told Valentine about this. Not yet, at least.
