German Fairytale: Folk Dirndl

Though you may have never heard the word 'dirndl' you probably recognize the style! The traditional dress of southern Germany and Austria, the Dirndl often shows up in fairytale illustrations. This style has also strongly influenced western fashion since the 1940s when hemlines first started creeping up towards the knee. The awesome thing about dirndls is that they are very simple, but by playing with colors and decoration you can make some really lush designs without much work!

Patterns Included:Blouse with square/round chunky collars, pinafore, overskirt and underskirt with ruffled/unruffled options, wide belted skirt for dolls in 16"/40cm size with adult proportions.

Supplies needed: 1/4 yard fabric, thread/sewing supplies
